Rumination: Fish By-Catch as a Fishing Vessel Energy Source

Millions and millions of tons of fish by-catch are discarded into the sea every year. The first priority is to reduce these amounts of course, but what if we reach the reduction limit and there continues to be a sizable amount of discarded by-catch? How about developing a way of converting this waste biomass into energy to power the fishing vessel? I have not seen any research in this area, but I suppose a form of thermoconversion could be designed that could make use of this biomass supply.
