NB: I would add that, if anything, the RFS should be expanded to allow synthetic fuels. These are fuels that do not technically fit into the ‘renewable’ definition of the statute but which are sustainable, clean, and highly beneficial as well: http://politicalecology.xyvy.info/rumination-a-new-advanced-fuels-category-for-the-eisa-renewable-fuels-standard-synthetic-fuels/.

The new standard would thus become the renewable and synthetic fuel standard.
